Five Nations to Share the Honor of Hosting the 18th UEFA European Football Championship

Tournament Set to Take Place in 2028, with Matches Scheduled in England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, Wales, and the Republic of Ireland

On October 10, 2023, the UEFA Executive Committee announced that the United Kingdom (England, Northern Ireland, Scotland, and Wales) and the Republic of Ireland had been unanimously awarded the rights to co-host the 2028 UEFA European Football Championship. This will be the 18th edition of the UEFA European Championship, and the first to be hosted by multiple nations since Euro 2020.

The tournament will take place from June to July 2028, with matches scheduled to be played in cities across all five host nations. The final tournament will feature 24 teams, with the host nations automatically qualifying for the competition.

The UEFA Euro 2028 logo was unveiled on October 5, 2021, during a ceremony at the Olympiastadion in Berlin. The logo depicts the Henri Delaunay Trophy, which is awarded to the winners of the UEFA European Championship.

The UK and Ireland's bid to host UEFA Euro 2028 was praised by UEFA for its "comprehensive and ambitious" proposals. The bid included plans for new and upgraded stadiums, as well as a range of cultural and sporting events to complement the tournament.

The awarding of UEFA Euro 2028 to the UK and Ireland is a major coup for the host nations. The tournament is expected to attract millions of fans from across Europe and beyond, and will provide a significant boost to the local economies.
